Paper Abstract

In this paper, we extend the matrix features used for the textured monochrome images to the color images and define six different vector features. Those vector features extracted from the matrices for color images have useful information about not only colors but also textures of a color image. Since the type of the proposed features is just a vector, the vector features can be well adapted with the indexing schemes widely used in the content-based image retrievals. Also, we analyze the mutual relationships of the matrices if proper constraints are given to the matrix calculations. In the experiments, we show the performance and the applicability of six proposed vector features to the content-based image retrievals and verify the usefulness of the features.
