Paper Abstract

In this paper, the characteristics of thermal images and visual images are analyzed, we present the differential signal distribution and gray distribution of them, the profiles of thermal images are sharper than that of visual images, this means the correlation between adjacent pixels of the former is stronger than that of the later, furthermore the gray distribution of thermal images is more concentrated than that of visual images. These characteristics demonstrate the compression potential of thermal images.
