Paper Abstract

Complex anatomical information can be obtained from a high- resolution, 3D, radiologic image by interactively navigating through it in a manner similar to an endoscopic examination. Real-time computation of these 'virtual' endoscopic views, however, is needed to permit truly interactive navigation. We present such a method, based on the temporal-coherence concept. Included results show the method's efficiency. The method constitutes parts of a complete virtual-endoscopic system we have devised. This system is illustrated for 3D pulmonary analysis.
