Paper Abstract

New family ofliquid crystalline compounds was synthesised. Polymorphism was detected with the help of the DSC calorimetry and polarizing microscopy. Monotropic ordered smectic mesophase for the derivatives from the pentyl up to the dodecyl was found. These phases situations are discussed and they are compared with the structure of other ferroelectric liquid crystalline compounds. Keywords: Liquid crystals, Smectics. Azo compounds.
