Paper Abstract

THe paper describes a technique developed to create synthetic response images, starting from fractal images. The purpose of constructing these images is to test whether the model developed by McCloy, specifying the relationship between cover conditions and image response, provides a good description of this relationship. The paper shows that the images created by this technique do indicate that this model is a good approximation of what actually happens in natural environments, but not agricultural and other man controlled environments. The work, in measuring the fractal dimension of a number of different cover types at two resolutions, has also indicated potentially significant differences in the fractal dimension of surfaces at different data resolutions.
