Dynamics of in-vitro fluorescence of human epidermis with applied 8-MOP

Paper Abstract

Experiments on studying of the dynamics of luminescence intensity under continuous 360 plus or minus 20 nm irradiation were conducted on normal human epidermis sampled using surface epidermal stripping technique and treated with 8-MOP in vitro. Alterations in luminescence spectra after one hour continuous UV irradiation differ in pure and psoralen treated epidermis. Kinetic curves (luminescence intensity at different wavelengths versus time of irradiation) for 8-MOP treated epidermis have the period of luminescence 'glowing up' which covers first 300 - 400 sec of irradiation time then much more gently stopping bleaching region which goes in intensity lower than initial (before irradiation) level. In the frame of the kinetic scheme for luminescent photoproduct, comprising two consecutive first order reactions, values of rate constants of luminescence 'growing up' and diminution were calculated.
