Beam quality in laser amplifiers

Paper Abstract

The quality of arbitrary multimode beams is presently analyzed during propagation through laser amplifiers, using the thin-sheet bidimensional model; a stochastic formalism that is based on the Wigner distribution function (WDF) of the field is employed. It is shown that the WDF, and therefore the second-order coherence function of the field after propagation through the amplifier, depends on the nth-order correlation functions of the input field
