Paper Abstract

We have extended Fourier-based reconstruction approaches from histo-projection TOF data to include non-TOF reconstruction. TOF information is used here for Fourier domain interpolation and backward extension of available histo-projection data to a larger number of azimuthal views, essential for the artifact-free non-TOF reconstruction. Only part of the available data (selection was defined by zero TOF frequency location) are used in the final reconstruction. We demonstrate, using experimental data, that the proposed approach is insensitive to the time calibration errors, while it preserves the spatial resolution of the Fourier-based analytic TOF algorithm (3D DIFTOF), although with higher noise levels, as given (as a trade-off) by the non-TOF reconstruction.
