Diode-laser-side-pumped Nd:YAG Q-switch TEM00 laser

Paper Abstract

The diode laser side pumped E-O Q-switch Nd:YAG laser was described that produced energy 0.36-mJ/pulse, 7-ns pulse width, pulse repetition rates 50-Hz, TEM00 mode. The laser has a zigzag slab geometry, side pumped with a quasi- CW 15 W diode bar. We used a 1.1% Nd:YAG Brewster-cut seven- bounce thin trapezoidal slab that was 1.2 nm thick. Using a cylindrical lens (f equals 1.6 mm), it made the diode laser couple in the slab. The laser resonator was a plane-concave cavity, radius of mirror curvature was 3 m. The cavity length was about 20 cm. The plane output mirror transitivity was T equals 0.1. We decided to the beam quality M2 equals 1.1. Q-switch laser slope efficiency was 19%.
