Source synthesis in white-light interferometric fiber sensor

Paper Abstract

White-light source synthesis technique has been demonstrated in a 1.3 micrometer all-fiber Michelson interferometer for the first time to our knowledge. The optimal wavelengths of the two sources are 1.3 micrometer and 1.55 micrometer, respectively. The minimum signal to noise ratio required by the system SNRmin has been reduced by 35 dB in theory and 19 dB in experiment. With the source synthesis technique, the all-fiber interferometer has an improved measurement accuracy based on interference packet modulation and an enhanced stability suitable for in situ application.
