Paper Abstract

In this work, we propose and characterize in laboratory a novel architecture of dual-frequency coherent noise lidar for simultaneous velocity and range measurements. In this system, the range/Doppler detection is obtained by correlating two detections achieved through two distinct optical noise signals, in order to reduce the noise that affects the received echo. Moreover, in the scheme, the two optical noise waveforms are generated by simply exploiting two continuouswave lasers with broad linewidth, avoiding the need for RF arbitrary waveform generators and synthesizers.
