Paper Abstract

This paper describes the Three Dimensional Laplacian Pyramid Coding as an extension of previously reported work on static images. The algorithms that we present when applied to image sequences gives high compression rates being very useful for videotelephone or videoconference applications. The image sequence is splitted into subsequences which are composed of a small number of images then the three dimensional algorithms are applied. The coding scheme is based on the construction of spatial/temporal pyramid structures defined on arbitraiy sampling lattices. A three dimensional treatment study of sampling rate conversion using matrix notation is also presented.
