Paper Abstract

The problem of retrieving spatial information of bidimensional surface heights from aerial images is considered. Single scale bidimensional surfaces are generated in the computer which have a Gaussian probability density functions of heights. We assume that the surfaces are illuminated by a source, the sun, and we calculate their images, as they would be formed by a photographic camara. For this, we define a bidimensional glitter function, which operates on the slopes of the surfaces. Bidimensional autocorrelation functions of the images are obtained and an analytical relationship is found with the autocorrelation function of the surfaces. Via a Fourier transform of the surface autocorrelation a two dimensional wave number spectra can be found. With this model, isotropic and anisotropic surfaces are studied.
