Holographic interferometry in nondestructive testing of composite materials

Paper Abstract

The accuracy of a phase-shifting Ronchi test with a sinusoidal transmission grating is discussed. By supressing higher order diffraction components, sheared interferograms with a signal to noise ratio in excess of 60 to 1 have been achieved. The effects of non-sinusoidal characteristics of the grating and phase-shift errors were minimised by the use of a seven-sample phase-shifting algorithm. An aberrated wavefront from a lens was measured with a relative accuracy of better than 0.3%.
