Paper Abstract

A wideband gyro-TWT experiment is being built which is predicted by a self-consistent nonlinear simula- tion code to generate a power of 80 kW from 9 to 11 GHz with 15 % efficiency and a saturated gain of 30 dB for an electron beam with an axial velocity spread of 2.0 % and a velocity ratio of 0.6. A single anode magnetron in- jection gun has been constructed to produce the required high quality electron beam. A broadband coupler has also been designed with a conversion efficiency of 98 - 99 % over 8.5 - 11.5 GHz as predicted by the HP HFSS code.
