Paper Abstract

An NPL far infrared cube interferometer has been modified by adding a hydraulically controlled moving mirror arm with a scan length of 1 m and a single mode He-Ne laser to monitor the optical path difference, so that measurements can be made on surface excitations in magnetic materials with a nominal resolution limit of 10-2 cm-1.
