Paper Abstract

Finishing with grinding wheel is analyzed in viewpoint of grain size and wheel wear modes -self-loosening, self-sharpening and ductile wear modes. A newly introduced parameter -a ratio of surface finish in Ra to grain size- is applied to various kinds of grinding processes. According to the analysis, a new design concept of load specified NC grinding process for realizing specified wheel wear mode, in particular, ductile wear mode is proposed for achieving nano-surface finish.
