Detection of internal temperature of rat tissue in vitro during laser thermolysis

Paper Abstract

There is a new direction to manage of plasmonic photothermal therapy (PPTT) by nanothermometry. Using nanothermometers such as upconversion nanoparticles (UpcNps) allows to control internal temperature of pathological tissue during PPTT. Temperature measurement principle by UpcNps is based on the temperature dependence of a luminescence intensity ratio. The wavelengths of such intensities for NaYF4: Yb, Er nanoparticles are 540 and 654 nm. We found that restrictive factor of nanothermometer application is a deformation of luminescence spectra due to difference of tissue extinction coefficients because of tissue denaturation.
