Terahertz modulators based on metasurfaces and metalines

Paper Abstract

We introduce two kinds of terahertz (THz) modulators based on the metasurfaces and metalines. The subwavelength structures have been carefully designed to tune the amplitude and phase responses of input electromagnetic radiation, thus the wave front of the transmitted THz beam can be modulated. The linear to linear and linear to elliptical polarization conversion have been realized. Based on the Pancharatnam-Berry phase generated by the metalines, the light with different spin states can be focused on different position, thus a spin selected lens can be designed which can generate the image at different position according to the spin state of input light.
