Paper Abstract

A temporal method to detect infrared small target using recursive sparse recovery is presented. Three advantages are provided by this method: detection of multiscale targets, removing false alarms caused by complex clutter, less computational complexity. Firstly, an initial estimate of the background subspace is trained. Secondly, the target and the background are recovered by low-rank and sparse decomposition based on trained background subspace. Thirdly, the background subspace is updated by background estimation. Finally, the small target can be easily extracted by the threshold segmentation. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is robust and efficient in complex backgrounds.
