Stray light analysis method for diffraction imaging lenses

Paper Abstract

Stray light produced by the diffractive lens will affects the overall optical performance. Generally speaking, there are two ways to obtain the effects of stray light. One method is direct measurement; the other is calculating according to specific mathematical model and using the ray tracing technique in a optical simulation software. In this paper we put up a ray split model of diffractive lens and apply this model to Zemax. By extend the transmission function of diffractive lens as a Fourier series, we can get the position of various focal point and the efficiencies of each diffractive order. Then we take the position, direction, energy and even the phase of split rays in to account based on the analysis. By tracing ten millions rays pass though the diffractive surface with Zemax, we investigate the spatial distribution and the optical effects of stray light in single diffractive lenses.
