Clinical temperature changes on the root surface in laser assisted endodontic treatment with 810-nm diode laser compare to body temperature

Paper Abstract

Objective: Clinical evaluate the temperature changes in apical, middle and cervical thirds of root compare to body temperature,an in vivo study. Materials and methods: 30 patients participated in this study for root canal therapy ,each patient with a single canal tooth. Canals were sterilized with 810 nm, power 1.2 W, fibre 200 μm in the continuous mode (CW),radiation time 2mm/sec,4 times for each canal from apical to coronal with circular movement. Temperature of apical, middle and cervical thirds were recorded by digital thermometer. Body temperature was recorded for each patient exactly around the same tooth before treatment too. Results: The highest temperature rise was shown at cervical thirds but not far from the critical value and very safe for body. Conclusion: 810 –nm diode laser can be used safely in laser assisted endodontic treatment for disinfection and sterilization at 1.2 W with continuous mode.
