Paper Abstract

A new approach to a fully distributed fiber optic sensing system is presented for the first time. This sensing approach will measure the transverse normal strain components, and the axial strain component at any point along the specially designed sensing fiber. This paper presents the theoretical modeling of strain-optic behavior and sensitivity, as well as general system requirements.
