A simply threshold temperature sensor based on biconical optical fiber taper

Paper Abstract

A simply, low-cost threshold temperature sensor based on biconical taper technology applied at standard SMF28® fiber is presented in this paper. Sensitivity of chosen temperature was obtain by creation an external cladding around a taper region from a material with variable state of matter. Achievement of external losses for a sensor are below 0.5 dB. The low-cost system operation is protect by application wide spectral (100 nm), LED with operation wavelength 1310 nm. Obtained threshold temperature above 61 deg is determined by conversion temperature of used material.
