Imaging of targets beyond wall using ultra wideband techniques

Paper Abstract

For Through wall imaging systems where the radar is carried by a human operator, the antenna apertures are required to be relatively small. This requirement has driven towards the use of antenna arrays and high resolution imaging techniques. In this paper 2D imaging of objects behind the wall is modeled as a linear inverse scattering problem using the Born’s approximation. Inversion is achieved by means of Truncated Singular Value Decomposition, Cholesky Decomposition and Tikhonov Regularization. Performance of backprojection and inverse scattering algorithms is compared using simulated results. Results of experimentation carried out using UWB impulse waveform and Vivaldi array are also presented.
