Paper Abstract

We investigate the light propagation characteristics in single-ring and double-ring resonant structure. Then we propose that double-ring Mach-Zehnder interferometer with a phase bias that exhibits sharp asymmetric Fano line shape. It can greatly enhance the sensitivity of sensor. It allows for measuring effective refractive index change down to 10-9 refractive index units, two orders of magnitude better than a ring Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
