Image-processing hardware and software for speckle dynamics analysis

Paper Abstract

Hardware and software designed for the analysis of speckle dynamics caused by displacement, deformation, and damage of a diffuse surface are described in this paper. For processing of optical information two variants of systems are used: CCD camera and photodiode array in a complete set with an IBM PC/AT computer; a photodiode array in a complete set with an autonomous microcomputer. The first group of programs is intended for processing of data input into the computer beforehand. The second group allows one to debug algorithms for the analysis of speckle dynamics in real-time scale. A possibility of data monitoring, selecting and averaging, correlation analysis, and analysis of speckle `twinklings' is available. The experimental results for the determination of surface displacement, damage and hardening are presented.
