Paper Abstract

The complexity of Shear Beam Imaging has driven performance analysis to a detailed computer simulation. Here we present a semi-rigorous theoretical model for imaging performance which includes the effects of light level, finite aperture detection, and speckle motion. We present a metric for quantifying the quality of images produced, called here the Incoherent Pseudo Imaging Strehl (IPS) which is amenable to analysis. Theoretically predicted values of IPS are compared with those computed via simulation. The theory agrees well with the simulated results.
