Characterization of commercial solid state TV cameras for noncontact metrology

Paper Abstract

This work describes an experimental setup for characterizing the calibration of a vision-based dimensional measurement system made up by off-the-shelf components, i.e. a commercial TV camera with standard lens, a frame grabber and a personal computer. Short- and long-term stability of the measurements with respect to time and to variations in environmental conditions are considered, as well as the repeatability of the same measurements after switching the equipment off and on. The reported results should be useful in evaluating the reliability of vision-based measurements.
