Paper Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the methods in nonlinear dynamics which are being applied to signal processing; and a new nonlinear coding method which is based on strange attractors. In particular, these nonlinear dynamic methods are being used for: noise reduction; discriminating signals from a noisy background, for example, when nonlinear media are involved; signal identification; classification; and prediction schemes; filtering out multipath propagation; speech modeling; as well as nonlinear codes; medical applications; and the monitoring and control of vibrations.
