Paper Abstract

In this paper, we present a suboptimal decision-theoretic estimator for differential delay and differential Doppler which is appropriate for narrowband signals, accommodates relatively unconstrained noise environments and operates without prior knowledge of the signal's spectral or temporal characteristics. Under certain adverse environmental conditions, this estimator is significantly more accurate than a conventional ambiguity surface estimator. The computational penalty for this improved performance is relatively minor.
