Paper Abstract

High power solid state lasers in the range of kW average output are of interest for applications in material processing. Especially the transmission of power up to 2 kW by fibers makes these systems fascinating. A review on the state of the art is given and the different approaches to high beam quality lasers (multirod, slabs, tubes) are discussed.
