Power flow study in subwavelength plasmonic apertures and antennas

Paper Abstract

The singular points of time-averaged power flow in electromagnetic fields can be qualitative parameters to understand the behavior of energy flow of electromagnetic systems. Rough relations between the power transmission efficiency or field enhancement and the behavior of the singular points are discussed. In this study, we investigate the relation between the singular points in power flow and other physical characteristics such as the field enhancement or power transmission efficiencies. By investigating the power flows near isolated or periodic slits and antennas, we hope to provide another view of understanding the physics in those structures.
