Paper Abstract

We have studied the performances of Mangin mirrors and simple spherical mirrors for optical processing with feedback by using the mirrors in a confocal Fabry-Perot system. It has been found that the mirror sets behave experimentally as predicted theoretically; i.e., both the space-bandwidth product and the imaging characteristics of the confocal Fabry-Perot system obtained by using Mangin mirrors are better than those obtained by using simple spherical mirrors. Taking advantage of these improvements, the optical processor with feedback will be able to process more information in parallel with greater accuracy.
