Paper Abstract

The present paper describes the basic principles and the geometries of certain simple catadioptric magnifiers that have been designed and fabricated. These magnifiers are made of moderately curved spherical surfaces and are capable of producing high visual magnifications with large eye-relief. Such magnifiers are found to be useful for reading microfiche having nominal frame sizes of 16mm X 12mm and 12mm X 9mm.
