Paper Abstract

The operation of an optical observatory with commands and instructions passed from the laboratory computer to the observatory computer via telecommunications has enabled us to routinely operate unattended at a remote site three sophisticated optical instruments. We report on the scientific and instrumental considerations, software development, and hardware decisions that made this achievement possible.
