Paper Abstract

Overtly and covertly many of our authors have indicated their feelings about referees' comments. Many of our authors are grateful for the referees' help. An equal number are hostile regarding referees as bumbling barriers to their work. The most common reaction is one learned from years of schooling; "I'll do what the teacher says to make the grade, but I know it's dumb." What is the best reaction? Gratitude? Sometimes. Hostility? Seldom or (I hope) never.
