Paper Abstract

A generalized minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD) formulation is identified for the characterization of infrared detection systems. The generalized MRTD equation can be adapted to suit the needs of any IR system to be tested. As an illustration, the MRTD of a staring lR detection system is derived from the generalized MRTD formulation.
