Paper Abstract

A system for experimental investigations of phase transitions under the electric field by means of polarizing microscope is described. The microscope is equipped with a video camera and a video digitizer, enabling the acquisition of patterns directly into the computer memory. The application of the system to the measurements of crystallization kinetics of polymers with and without an electric field is shown. The physical background of crystallization kinetics in polymer systems is also given.
