Paper Abstract
Optical storage in photorefractive crystals such as UNbO is subject to some of the same problems associated with photogra~hic em~ls1 ons. ~ynamic range limitations are common to both. In a typical o~t1cal Fo~ ner tr~nsfor!': arrangement, the lower spatial frequencies contain the highest intensities and the higher spatial frequencies are much weaker a~d. are ~ubj~ct to being poorly recorded in multiplexed expos~ re~. This invest1gat1on explores and models a simple method for distributing the spectra more evenly throughout the storage media by utilizing a phase diffusing screen.
