Analysis of advanced photonic devices with time-dependent coupled mode equations

Paper Abstract

Based on the recently proposed time-dependent coupled mode theory (TD CMT) for parallel waveguides, we present an analysis of three advanced photonic micro-devices: micro-interferometer, 90-deg bent, and a tunable beam splitter. An accurate analysis of these devices with commercial software may take many hours, whereas the TD CMT needs only minutes with little sacrifice of accuracy.
