Paper Abstract

CCDs perform two main functions: detecting light by generating free electrons in the pixels, and transferring the photogenerated charge across the device to an output amplifier. The charge transfer process is not always ideal, and this can result in errors when making analytical measurements of point images that only cover a few pixels [e.g., in astronomy and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectroscopy].1,2
