Paper Abstract

It is known that the reflection at a dielectric/metal boundary exhibits anisotropy at nonzero incidence angles. This is of concern for high-performance reflecting telescopes where the low F# can lead to a non-negligible polarization dependent amplitude and phase apodization. After calculating the phase apodization as a function of incidence angle, we describe an effective compensation technique using form birefringence.
