Reasonable optical engineering approximation of the effects of two inclined gratings in Talbot interferometry

Paper Abstract

The effects of two inclined grating planes illuminated by a plane wave in Talbot interferometry are studied. In the more realistic situation, the two grating planes are first rotated around their own axis parallel to the line direction, and then the detector grating is rotated by an angle around the normal of the grating plane. The theoretical analysis presented indicates that the tilt-angle of the resultant moiré fringes is sensitive to the inclination of the gratings. The results are compared with those in our earlier work and suggest that the approximation made then is reasonable for the conventional Talbot interferometry, from an optical engineering viewpoint.
