Optics-on-chip enables integration of optics and microelectronics. It can open the door to a new technology that is superior to conventional microelectronics by allowing for low power, high bandwidth, and high speed. In the last few years there has been enormous progress in the field of nanophotonics based on both high-index contrast waveguides and on photonic crystals. Extremely sharp curves, bends, and splitters have also been demonstrated, allowing a high level of integration. Multiplexers and demultiplexers using resonant structures and photonic crystals have been shown. Different materials have been exploited ranging from polymers to semiconductors. Both passive as well as active devices have been exploited. Applications for these devices include telecom, sensing, on-chip and chip-to-chip interconnect, among others. This conference aims to be the forum for exposing and discussing the most promising and significant approaches for optics-on-chip.

We will be concentrating on, but not limited to, the following five areas:

    Poster authors will begin displaying posters after 10:00 am Tuesday morning. A poster session, with authors present at their posters, will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

    Poster Setup
    Poster presenters may set up their posters between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on Tuesday. Poster presenters who have not set up by 5:00 pm on Tuesday will be considered a "no show" and their manuscript will not be published. Presenters must remove their posters immediately after the poster session. Posters not removed will be considered unwanted and will be discarded. SPIE assumes no responsibility for posters left up after the end of the poster session.
